The 51-year-old actor who plays the Marvel superhero Hawkeye was seriously injured while driving a snow plow near his home in Reno, Nevada, on New Year’s Day, and was airlifted to hospital. Jeremy’s neighbour, a doctor, reportedly was able to build a tourniquet to treat the leg until paramedics arrived.

Jeremy’s publicist said in a statement, “Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City mayor, Hillary Schieve, and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

An online portal reported eyewitness accounts from Jeremy’s neighbours, who said that the actor was plowing a road on Sunday morning so his family could get out after a snowstorm. One neighbour said that, despite its safety measures, the Sno-Cat plow ran over one of Jeremy’s legs.

The Washow County Sheriff’s office gave more details about the accident and said in a statement it “responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada” on Sunday morning at 9 am.” Apparently, Jeremy was the only involved party in the incident which is being investigated. Jeremy’s snow plow was towed away on Sunday night, several hours after the incident.

Jeremy has owned a ranch in Washoe county for years. Northern Nevada was hit by a winter snow storm on New Year’s Eve that saw 35,000 homes lose electricity. The US has been hit by what is called the “blizzard of the century” over the past week and reportedly at least 60 people have lost their lives countrywide. The government had issued warnings for people who had travel plans through the Sierra Nevada mountains to be prepared for icy roads and winter driving conditions.

Jeremy is popular for playing the superhero Hawkeye/Clint Barton in Marvel films and a television series that premiered in 2022. Hawkeye is an expert marksman and one of the core Avengers. Jeremy has also earned an Academy Award nomination for his performance in The Hurt Locker and is all set to appear in the second season of Mayor of Kingstown, a Paramount+ crime drama that is due to begin airing in two weeks. He will also be seen in an unscripted series called Rennervations on Disney+. He had shared updates previously on the amount of snow in his area, tweeting in December that "Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke".
