Asha Bhosle’s Final Rites To Be Held With Full State Honours In Mumbai Today

The final rites of legendary singer Asha Bhosle will be performed today in Mumbai with full state honours, marking a solemn farewell to one of India’s most iconic voices.

According to official information, her last rites are scheduled to take place at Shivaji Park at 4 PM on Monday. Prior to that, fans, well-wishers and members of the film fraternity will be able to pay their final respects at her residence in Lower Parel, where her mortal remains have been kept.

The veteran singer passed away on Sunday at the age of 92 after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital a day earlier. She had been suffering from a chest infection and severe exhaustion, which led to a steady decline in her condition despite medical attention.

In recognition of her immense contribution to Indian music, the Maharashtra government has decided to accord her a state funeral. The ceremony is expected to see the presence of political dignitaries, industry colleagues and countless admirers gathering to bid their final goodbye.

Over an extraordinary career spanning more than eight decades, Asha Bhosle redefined playback singing with her unmatched versatility. From classical compositions to contemporary chartbusters, she seamlessly adapted to evolving musical trends while retaining her unique identity.

Her collaborations with some of the biggest composers in the industry resulted in timeless songs that continue to remain etched in the hearts of listeners. Even in her later years, she stayed connected to music, reflecting her enduring passion for the art.

As Mumbai prepares to bid farewell, the loss extends far beyond the film industry. Though her voice has fallen silent, Asha Bhosle’s legacy will continue to live on through the melodies that defined generations.
