Oscars 2022: Will Smith smacks Chris Rock on stage after a joke on Jada Pinkett Smith, says 'keep my wife's name out of your f***g mouth'

The 94th Academy Awards took place on March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. It was hosted by Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. During the ceremony, Will Smith had an altercation with Chris Rock, who was on the stage to present the Oscar for documentary feature.

When Chris made a joke about Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith being in G.I. Jane because of her shaved head, the actor went on the stage to punch him. While it appeared to be a joke, Will returned to his seat and said, "Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!" Sean Combs, the next presenter, addressed the situation and told, "Will and Chris, we’re going to solve this like family. Right now we’re moving on with love. Everybody make some noise."

During one of the commercial breaks, Will's publicist Meredith O. Sullivan had a discussion with him. Denzel Washington also spoke to the actor. During his Best Actor speech, Will revealed what Denzel told him. He shared, "At your highest moment, be careful, that’s when the devil comes for you." He further told in his speech, "Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family," and apologised for his actions.

Last year, Jade decided to shave her head after struggling with alopecia. In a note on Instagram, she said, "Now at this point, I can only laugh… y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia. Just all of a sudden, one day…it just showed up like that. Now, this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide. So, I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions…Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something. Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!"
