‘Harry Potter’ actor Rupert Grint and girlfriend Georgia Groome are expecting their first child

Here’s some good news for all the Potterheads out there. No, no JK Rowling has not found the vaccine for Coronavirus pandemic but our one-third of our lovable golden trio Rupert Grint will soon become a proud father. Rupert, who played Ron Weasley on all eight Harry Potter films announced that he and his girlfriend Georgia Groome are about to become parents. The couple is expecting their first child, Grint’s representative confirmed to an online portal.

Grint’s rep told the portal, “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time.” Grint and Groome, who is also an actress, were first reported to have started dating in 2011. The couple has successfully kept their relationship private during their nearly ten years of being together.

Although not married, Grint had spoken about embracing fatherhood before as well. During an interview with a leading publication in 2018, he had expressed hope of starting a family soon. He had said, “Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn’t feel like I’m there yet and I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. I’d like to settle down and have kids soon. If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with."

Grint is the first of the three main Harry Potter stars to start a family. However, none are married yet. Emma Watson (who played Hermione Granger) is single while Daniel Radcliffe (who played Harry) is in a relationship with actress Erin Darke since 2013. However, Matthew Lewis (who played Neville Longbottom) married Angela Jones in 2018.
