You won’t walk down an empty corridor after watching The Nun trailer

You brace yourself mentally before clicking on the one-and-a-half minute trailer. It opens with the message: “Make sure you watch to the end.”… as if sensing that you might just flee if it gets too much to handle!

So, here’s the story: A young nun is haunted by visions of an evil presence. She recounts her visions to the resident priest and is told by the church to travel to Romania. We are informed by a sister that “The abbey has a long history — not all of it good.” Following this, we are informed the “the darkest chapter (of the Conjuring universe) was born.” Don’t ask questions, just pray!

The Nun’s presence lurks through the dungeons that the young nun and the priest explore, seeking answers to the evil presence that haunts them. And no, you cannot escape that final jump scare moment without which a horror film cannot hold its head up high!

The film sees the demonic sister from The Conjuring 2 returning to terrorise the novitiate played by Taissa Farmiga in a remote convent. The trailer ends with the suggestion: “Pray for forgiveness.” You bet we will!

As the official synopsis tells it, The Nun tells the tale of a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania, who takes her own life. A priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.

Scheduled for a September 17 release, this Corin Hardy directorial is not for the weak!
