The titular character Mary Poppins which was last played by Julie Andrews in 1964 recently announced its return on the silver screen only actress Emily Blunt taking the lead in this one. The first teaser of this highly anticipated film dropped during the Oscars ceremony on Sunday and instantly became the talk of the town.
In the teaser, we can see a young man chasing after a kite before Lin-Manuel Miranda joins him in the chase and helps him attempt to bring the kite in from the strong winds.
However, we all know with the "winds in the east, mist coming in... something is brewing and about to begin."

Lo and behold, Mary Poppins descends with the kite in her hand and Lin-Manuel Miranda riding a bike and looking an awful lot like Dick Van Dyke’s chimney sweep from the original 1964 musical.
Dick Van Dyke also appears in the new version in a different role, as the son of the penny-pinching banker Mr Dawes.
Meryl Streep, reuniting with Blunt from The Devil Wears Prada and with the director, Rob Marshall from Into the Woods, plays Poppins’s cousin, Topsy; another acting legend, Angela Lansbury, plays the Balloon Lady, but neither appears in the teaser.
And now while the trailer is buzzing, what really should one expect from the sequel you ask?
We'll answer that for you. The film is set two decades later after the original with everyone's favourite Michael and Jane all grown up with children of their own. Mary Poppins thus re-enters their lives during the Depression Era in London. Being the ray of hope that she is, Mary Poppins helps the children rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.
The sequel will also star Julie Walters, Colin Firth and Angela Lansbury. Julie Andrews turned down a cameo role, not wanting to deflect attention away from Blunt’s performance.
The film is an original story based on P.L. Travers’ characters after the author wrote in her will she didn’t want another movie adaptation to be made from her books. The 1964 movie won five Oscars, including one for Andrews as Best Actress.
