Presenting the finest fabrics and the wavy-est walks, here's what the majestic runway had to offer this SS23 season.

Gucci brings in double trouble!

Gucci stunned audiences by bringing identical twins down the runway at its Milan Fashion Week show on Friday, giving fashionistas a shot to see double. For the collection, titled "Gucci Twinsburg" in reference to the Ohio town that hosts an annual festival for twins, creative director Alessandro Michele paid homage to twins and their connection.

“As if by magic, clothes duplicate. They seem to lose their status of singularity. The effect is alienating and ambiguous. Almost a rift in the idea of identity, and then, the revelation: the same clothes emanate different qualities on seemingly identical bodies. Fashion, after all, lives on serial multiplications that don’t hamper the most genuine expression of every possible individuality,” said the Creative Director, Alessandro Michele.

Creating unique and extraordinary designs, the brand casted 68 sets of identical twins to walk down the runway which was on its own was very unique.

Alessandro Michele said in show notes, "I am a son of two mothers: mum Eralda and mum Giuliana. Two extraordinary women who made their twinship the ultimate seal of their existence. They lived in the same body. They dressed and combed their hair in the same way. They were magically mirrored. One multiplied the other. That was my world, perfectly double and doubled."

Kim Kardashian assists Dolce & Gabbana and revisits the ‘90s

The contemporary diva and the ultimate muse, Kim Kardashian teamed up with the Italian luxury label, Dolce & Gabbana to present its latest collection for women’s wardrobes.

Models wore adorned corset dresses, crop tops with high-waisted tight pants, and shimmering or see-through skirts against the backdrop of a massive screen playing a black and white film of Kardashian eating spaghetti.

The collection named after Kim “Ciao Kim”, displayed legendary Dolce & Gabbana pieces. The collection was curated by Kim in person, she also inspired Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana to revisit the 90s and 00s archives.

Kardashian, dressed in a sparkly black dress, closed the event by greeting the audience followed by designers Dolce and Gabbana.

Moschino’s inflatable Spring/Summer Collection

Inflation was one of the main issues of the day, and Moschino, America designer Jeremy Scott, who is never one to dwell on the negative aspects of life, took the opportunity. He literally created a blow-up show.

All of the ensembles incorporated some form of inflatable component, giving a strong tribute to the 1980s, from boater hats topped with tiny rubber rings that matched the colour of the look to a neat, fitting dress with blow-up collar and hems.

Scott continued the concept by dressing two models, one in a dress that appeared to be fashioned from a child's paddling pool, complete with blow-up animal rings, and the other in balloons that said "party."

AVAVAV goes drama mode for Its SS2023 collection

Famous for its eye-popping and thought-provoking “Finger and Claw” footwear, AVAVAV is back for the Spring/Summer 2023 season, in a very dramatic fashion.

Beate Karlsson, the brand's creative director, tripped up the last leg of Milan Fashion Week shows with a debut, nouveau riche collection of ready-to-wear and accessory pieces that conceptualized the idea of "success and failure," quite literally with models falling on the runway.

“Like many others I’ve craved money for the past year, everywhere I turn it’s part of the discussion. As a result, I want to look rich, feel rich and I want to take it to an outrageous level. As silly as it may sound, I’ve enjoyed my fake wealth in this tough climate. I wanted to do a parody of a fashion show to go with the pathetic theme of this collection, and of fashion’s extreme superficiality, at a time when so many fake richness but risk to fall down hard,” said Designer and Creative Director Beate Karlsson.

Sunnei RTW Spring 2023

In this part-majestic, part-charismatic world of fashion where every new idea is to die for, things can get competitive and the curious little realm inside each and every designer’s idealistic mind can clutter onto the same piece of art. This phenomenon was the case of Sunnei’s presentation which included twin models and guess what – the same concept was executed by none other than Alessandro Michele whose Gucci casting took the same approach hours earlier.

Their Palazzina Sunnei was transformed into a stark operating room-style white box. Visitors were required to put on surgical overshoes for protection. A rotating door leading into enigmatic emptiness opens at the end of the catwalk. At that point, the issue with the identical twins arose. One of the twins entered the rotating door while the other twin appeared from the opposite spinning side dressed to the nines in Sunnei's spring collection, with full-on makeup and the proper coiffure. The twins were seated among the crowd. One was wearing their own clothing.

In a world where every fashion phenom is trying to outdo one another, fier and futuristic concepts get rumbled up - especially when great minds think alike. Sunnei and Gucci's take on the twin turmoil was an exact replica of the same, but with room for advancements in the ever-so-evolving fashion scene.
