Manish Malhotra revolutionizes the fashion game as he becomes the first Indian designer to drop an NFT, gets sold out in seconds!

Trust designer Manish Malhotra to be a torchbearer, always. In a game-changing move, the B-town’s most sought out fashion designer joined forces with Wazir X NFT Marketplace and FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week to foray into the untapped NFT universe. Whoa!

NFTs or non-fungible tokens are a unique string of characters that cannot be replaced with something else. They can be anything digital (art, music, drawings) making them a one-of-a-kind asset in the digital world. Manish curated 5 exclusive fashion NFTs which includes a picture of Lisa Ray from 1998, a GIF of Alia Bhatt in a chikankari lehenga, a hand-drawn sketch of a saree worn by Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, an illustration of his ‘Illuminious Showstopper’ Kareena Kapoor Khan and a video titled Reminiscing Runways from the year 2013.

Calling it a new medium to express art, the designer said, “This unexplored new world – NFT, intrigued me. It’s a new stream and platform for not just artists who create physical products but also for new age artists, designers, illustrators, and digital content creators.”

While finalizing the 5 selected designs, Manish took a stroll down the memory lane and browsed through some old photographs, sketches and a black and white photoshoot of his first store. Blending technology with style, the designer feels that the NFT universe has so much to offer.

Looks like Manish is a path-breaker in their arena already as all 5 of his NFT drops got sold out in seconds. When asked if he would advise his Bollywood friends to venture into this industry, he said, “I would recommend all to do their research well first and considerably take risks to constantly evolve to the ever-changing digital world. I hope my participation encourages them to explore and take advantage of this new and exciting opportunity.”
