Sharing a post on its social media space, DP stated that the Jenner sisters’ famous brand ‘Kendall+Kylie’ owes some money to its factory workers. Launched in 2015, the brand rose to fame overnight and by 2017 it has been selling off pretty well in 390 stores in the US and 975 worldwide. “Kylie and Kendall at least gave the impression of being involved in the line in early interviews, although it’s not clear whether their involvement these days is more than modeling the collections,” read an excerpt from their post.

Global Brands Group, the company that owns the Kendall and Kylie’s namesake brand, sold and marketed under their name, announced back in March that due to the global pandemic, they would be canceling all the outstanding SS20 productions, some of which has already been produced.

With several months of lockdown and standstill brought by the pandemic of COVID-19, many industries have fallen prey to the global crisis, including fashion. Besides the high-end designers and retailers, people that have taken the worst hit in this COVID crisis are the factory workers and the artisans. Due to cancellations of the orders in a large amount, the factory owners and its workers are on a brink of poverty.

While the world is adjusting to the new-normal scenario and opening up, the fashion labels would start minting money once again. Although factories and its workers would be stuck with the unshipped and unpaid merchandise that might never see the light of the day. Taking a strong stand against this, Diet Prada stated, “when we talk about sustainability, we need to be thinking beyond brands using organic cotton. The systems themselves are unsustainable— the ease at which they fell apart in a real crisis further illustrates this.”

Although not being a ‘billionaire’ anymore, DP hopes that Kylie can still afford a little human decency and pay up the outstanding dues.
