Known for its anti-plagiarism activities, the anonymous account of Diet Sabya has always been the one to call out the blatant rip off copies. Looks like it has a new addition to the long list and this one comes dated back from 1995!
Celebrating 25 years of Madhuri Dixit Nene’s and Sanjay Kapur’s film Raja, Diet Sabya shared a video spilling the usual ‘tea’ of curating rip-offs. It called out the costume designer Ana Singh who designed Madhuri’s look for iconic song ‘Akhiyaan Milaoon Kabhi.’
Did you know? The real tea is that @anasingh5 created a rather modest () version of Gianni @versace’s iconic 1992 collection — worn by @cturlington — for @madhuridixitnene’s iconic Raja song (released in 1995). Happy #25yearsofraja . . (Documenting this for fun so that kids can enjoy some fashion history ) . . #dietsabya #fun #history #gandi #copy
As stated by the fashion’s vigilante, this look was a modest version inspired by Gianni Versace’s 1992 collection. By the looks of it, there’s no denying that!
However, it was Ana’s reply that stole the show. Admitting to the above-stated fact, Ana said it wasn’t her personal call but that of the director’s. “My director sent me a reference so the call was not mine. Access to clothes was impossible and the requirement needed to be fulfilled. I was sent the book Vanitas by Gianni Versace. Just did the job and sorry but not sorry it’s an excellent copy.”
Wow! Now that’s an iconic fact for the iconic song featuring an iconic rip-off, don’t you think?
