Diwali 2021: From Suriya’s ‘Jai Bhim’ to Rajinikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’, South Indian films lined up for release in theatres and OTT during the festival week

Diwali is fast approaching and with it is coming the release dates of some of the most anticipated south Indian films in theatres and OTT. The list of movies to release during Diwali 2021 include a stellar line-up of heavyweight actors all vying for the audience’s attention. Take a look at the films lined up for release in the coming days that will definitely amp up your holidays.

Jai Bhim – November 2- Amazon Prime Video

Jai Bhim starring Suriya in the lead is releasing on Amazon Prime Video on November 2, 2021. The Tamil film is helmed by Tha Se Gnanavel and also casts Prakash Raj in a pivotal role. Not just that, Jai Bhim will also reunite the successful pairing of Suriya and Rajisha Vijayan.

Annaatthe – November 4 –Theatre

Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe will be pivotal in bringing audiences back to theatres as it opens on November 4. The Tamil action drama is written and directed by Siruthai Siva. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Nayanthara in the lead roles while Meena and Khushbu Sundar essay supporting roles. Annaatthe is produced by Kalanidhi Maran under Sun Pictures. The soundtrack is composed by D. Imman. The cinematography and editing are handled by Vetri Palanisamy and Ruben respectively.

MGR Magan- November 4 - Disney+Hotstar

MGR Magan is a Tamil film starring Pala Karuppaiah, Saranya Ponvannan, Mrinalini and Samuthirakani. This Sasikumar village drama had been waiting for some time now for release and recently the filmmaker’s revealed that it will go for a direct OTT release on Disney+Hotstar on November 4.

Gully Rowdy – November 4 - Disney+Hotstar

Gully Rowdy is a Telugu romantic action comedy film starring Sundeep Kishan. The plot revolves around a young man who attempts to balance his love interests and his rowdy ways. A mixed genre, this film fits as a family entertainer. Gully Rowdy was released in theatres earlier and is now vying for a piece on the OTT circuit. It will release on November 4 on Disney+Hotstar.

Enemy – November 4 – Theatres

Enemy is a Tamil actioner written and directed by Anand Shankar and produced by Vinod Kumar under the banner of Mini Studios. The film stars Vishal, Arya, Mirnalini Ravi, Mamta Mohandas, and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. The technical crew includes cinematographer RD Rajasekhar, composer S Thaman, and editor Raymond Derrick Crasta. The film will release theatrically on November 4.

Vaa Deal – November 4 - Theatre

Vaa Deal is a Tamil film directed and written by Rathina Shiva. The film stars Arun Vijay and Karthika Nair. The film has music by Thaman. Having been in production since 2012, the film has been delayed for several years. The film will finally release at theatre on November 4, 2021.

Kurup - November 12 - Theatre 

Kurup starring Dulquer Salmaan and Sobhita Dhulipala in the lead, is based on the real life story of one of India’s most wanted criminals, Sukumara Kurup. The Srinath Rajendran directorial will be released in five languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.  Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s home banner, Wayfarer films, and co-produced by M-star, Kurup is set to release in theatres on November 12.

Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham – November 12 - Disney+Hotstar

Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham is the first direct-to-digital Malayalam film releasing on Disney+Hotstar. The film stars Nivin Pauly, Grace Antony, Vinay Fort, Jaffer Idukki, Sudheesh, Vincy Aloshious, Joy Mathew, Rajesh Madhavan and Sudheer Paravoor. It will release on November 12, 2021 only on Disney+Hotstar.
