My life has changed since Roohi and Yash arrived, this is my biggest blockbuster- 10 quotes by birthday icon Karan Johar, a doting son and a protective father!

It’s all about loving your parents- This was not just the tagline of Karan Johar's blockbuster film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham but also the mantra of his life. The filmmaker was born to the late Yash Johar and Hiroo Johar on May 25, 1972. Before becoming the head of Dharma Productions, established by his father, Karan ventured into the entertainment industry as an actor. He played the character of Srikant in Doordarshan's Indradhanush (1989). Six years later, Karan assisted his cousin Aditya Chopra on his directorial debut, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The filmmaker also made a cameo in the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer romantic film.

But the actual reign of Karan, who is fondly addressed as KJo, began with the release of his directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). The film went on to win multiple awards, set trends and started a new era in Bollywood. With over 40 films as a director/producer, 6 reality shows and a few films as an actor, Karan remains to be the reason for many Indians to visit the theatres for a larger-than-life cinematic experience. While we recognise him as 'Padma Shri Karan Johar', the filmmaker has another side to him- that of a doting son and a protective father.

Karan, whose heart still aches to realise that his father, legendary filmmaker Yash Johar is not in between us anymore, considers his mother, producer Hiroo Johar as the queen of his universe. His love for his parents was evident when Karan named his children Yash and Roohi. Karan's son Yash is named after his deceased father while Roohi's name is an anagram of his mother's name.

In multiple interviews, Karan spoke about how Yash and Roohi, twins born from surrogacy on February 7, filled his life with the love he never experienced. Calling them his 'biggest blockbuster', Karan has always credited his little ones for changing his life for good.

Today, as Karan celebrates his 49th birthday, here are some quotes that prove that he isn't just a visionary filmmaker but a protective and loving father and son.

Happy birthday, Karan! Keep entertaining us with your Lockdown With Johar series and see you at the movies soon!
