In Pictures: Remembering Bollywood's favourite guru Saroj Khan who taught the finest of dance etiquette to celebrities

Bollywood's veteran choreographer Saroj Khan, during the wee hours of Friday, July 3, 2020, breathed her last after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. Masterji, as the industry fondly addressed her, was 72 years old and had over 2000 songs to her credit. While she started her career as a child artist at the age of three, Masterji gained recognition with Sridevi's Hawa Hawai from Mr.India. Soon, her collaborations with Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and other leading actresses proved to be perfect recipes of chartbusters. In her over four decades career as an independent choreographer, she was honoured with National Award for Dola Re Dola (Devdas), Yeh Ishq Haye (Jab We Met), and for all songs from the Tamil film Sringaram. She also received the American Choreography Award for Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. Her last song was Tabah Ho Gaye from Kalank in 2019 featuring her favourite muse Madhuri.

Apart from senior actors, Saroj Khan, in the past few years, was monitoring the growth of newcomers like Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan in terms of their dance skills. In fact, the young actresses have shared pictures with her on their social media platforms expressing gratitude for getting a chance to learn from her.

Today, as we remember her unmatched legacy in the history of Bollywood choreography, PeepingMoon.com went down the memory lane to discover some of her best and candid pictures with Bollywood celebrities who learned the fine etiquettes of dance from Masterji. Passionate for her work despite all odds, these pictures mirror her dedication, playfulness and bonding with her students.
