Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya to Dabangg: Sajid-Wajid's collaboration with Salman Khan that made us go 'Mashallah'

Bidding adieu to Bollywood's music industry, Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid fame passed away at a hospital in Mumbai during the wee hours of Monday morning. The ace music director and singer who delivered multiple chartbusters in his illustrious career that began in 1998 with Salman Khan's Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, was suffering from a heart ailment and was admitted to the hospital two months ago. Wajid's brother Sajid Khan confirmed that he died of cardiac arrest and was tested positive for Coronavirus too. Wajid was on the ventilator before breathing his last at the age of 42.  

Wajid, in his successful career with brother Sajid, delivered numerous chartbuster songs. Majorly collaborating with Salman in Bollywood, the duo made fans go crazy with foot-tapping as well as pleasing music. In their over 20-year-long association with the superstar, Sajid-Wajid proved to be the dabangg music directors of Bollywood. Today, as we remember Wajid, let's take a look at some of his successful collaborations with Salman. 

 

Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998)

Sajid and Wajid marked their debut in the Bollywood music industry with Salman's-Kajol's and Arbaaz Khan's Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. The duo composed the song Teri Jawani Badi Mast Mast Hai revolving around Arbaaz and Anjala Zaveri.

 

Hello Brother (1999)

The album of Hello Brother starring Salman, Arbaaz and Rani Mukerji was much appreciated. Sajid-Wajid composed four songs for the film while three were by Himesh Reshammiya.

 

Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge (2002)

Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge with Salman, Sushmita Sen and Dia Mirza has the composition of Sajid-Wajid. They gave five songs to the film while Daboo Malik composed three.

Tere Naam (2003)

Sajid-Wajid delivered the blockbuster song Lagan Lagi from Tere Naam. Apart from that, they composed Tune Saath Jo Mera Chhoda.

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004)

Sajid-Wajid composed majorly the whole album of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi except Jeena Ke Hai Chaar Din which was by Anu Malik. The duo gave out blockbusters like Laal Dupatta, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and many others.

Partner (2007)

All songs of Partner were by Sajid-Wajid. The film's music is still remembered and loved by listeners of all ages. 

Veer (2010)

While Veer failed to strike the right chord with the audience, its music was widely appreciated. All songs were by Sajid-Wajid.

Dabangg (2010)

From the peppy Munni Badnaam Hui to the soulful Tere Mast Mast Do Nain, the music of Dabangg balanced all flavours well, thanks to Sajid-Wajid.

Ek Tha Tiger (2012)

Wajid was the singer behind the chartbuster Mashallah with Shreya Ghoshal. Indeed, their only composition from Ek Tha Tiger made us all go mashallah!

Dabangg 2 (2012)

Be it Fevicol Se or Pandeyji Seeti, Sajid-Wajid won over the listeners with a diverse range of songs in Dabangg 2.

Dabangg 3 (2019)

The recently released Dabangg 3 was home to some peppy and foot-tapping numbers by Sajid-Wajid. 

Pyaar Karona and Bhai Bhai (2020)

Salman, amid the lockdown, released two of his singles on his YouTube channel. Titled Pyaar Karona and Bhai Bhai, both were composed by Sajid-Wajid.
