3 Years of Hindi Medium: English is just a language, not class - 5 important life lessons that Irrfan taught us through his character Raj Batra

Acclaimed Bollywood and Hollywood actor Irrfan passed away on April 29 after a long battle with Neuroendocrine tumor but the life lessons he taught everyone through his films will forever be with us. Be it teaching humanity through Piku (2015) or spreading joy in Karwaan (2018), Irrfan has always left an impact through his 'guy-next-door' characters.

Today, his one of the most memorable films Hindi Medium that released on May 19, 2017, completes three years. The film was much more than a box office hit as it had important life lessons hidden in it. Director Saket Choudhary beautifully instilled valuable moments that made the film a blockbuster. Hindi Medium starred Irrfan along with Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal and Dishita Sehgal. The film was based on how Raj Batra (Irrfan) and Mita Batra (Saba) yearn to get Pia (Dishita), their daughter, educated from a reputed school but when they learn that their background is holding her back, they do everything to ensure that she gets into the school.

Despite every character being important, it was Irrfan's Raj Batra, who through the 2 hours 30 minutes film, kept sending out unmissable life lessons. Today as the film clocks 3 years, here are 5 important learnings that Irrfan spread across through Hindi Medium.

LANGUAGE DOES NOT DEFINE WHO YOU ARE

Throughout the film, Raj Batra does not care much about being from Hindi Medium background. Rather, he shows pride in his background.

EDUCATION SHOULD BE EQUAL FOR ALL

Raj is disappointed to see that the education system in India is run by the rich. He feels education's sole purpose should be to impart knowledge and be equal for all.

MONEY CANNOT BUY HAPPINESS

Despite being rich, Raj feels money is just a number and it cannot buy happiness. Happiness comes from family and friends.

ENGLISH IS JUST A LANGUAGE, NOT CLASS

When told numerous times that to survive in today's era one must know how to talk in English, Raj argues back saying that it is just a language that does not define anything.

NEVER FORGET YOUR ROOTS

When his wife Mita forces him to shift to a posh society, Raj agrees to it but also teaches us that one must never forget his/her roots.
