Brutally honest and outspoken: Why there can never be another actor as candid as Rishi Kapoor!

Rishi Kapoor was not only known for his impeccable performances but also for being brutally honest about everything. Be it his Bollywood fraternity, politics, or personal life, Rishi Ji never shied away to be open about anything. The outspoken actor never minced his words and often made headlines for his controversial tweets and his fiery interviews and well, he was quite okay with that. He was proud to have the courage to speak up, unlike several other stars he worked with.

The actor has forever been one of the most brutally honest stars of Bollywood and calling ' a spade a spade' was his trademark, even if it meant getting backlash on social media and across. While his words often landed him in trouble but he has also appreciated for being honest, no matter what. Unfortunately, this honesty would be missed as the veteran actor passed away on Thursday morning, May 30, after his two-year-long battle with cancer.

In Rishi Ji's memory, we bring to you the 10 times he won hearts - NO FILTERS!

When he accepted his father’s ‘attraction’ towards Nargis

On an episode of TV show Aap Ki Adalat, Rishi Kapoor talked about the 'unspoken' affair between his father, late Raj Kapoor and yesteryear superstar actree Nargis. “We respect this fact that while working together, two people tend to get attached with each other and do move over friendship. We are human beings and a human will love a human itself. It happens with everybody. It is part of life. We are not ashamed of Raj Kapoor’s relationship with Nargis and share a cordial relation with her family. It’s history and we respect that.”

He said the same thing when talking about his son and his relationship with Katrina Kaif. “Prior to Katrina, Ranbir was dating some other girl too, but that didn’t work out either. In our industry, many a times it happens that one gets attracted towards the other during a scene.”

When he admitted being a male chauvinist in front of wife Neetu Kapoor

Neetu Kapoor before getting married was active in films. She let go of her career post getting married to Rishi. Rishi said that it was probably done to boost his male-ego as he was a chauvinist then. Admitting it he had said, "It was, as I have said often, her decision to wind up her career after marriage. I can say with a clear conscience that I did not force it upon her. We did agree before we got married that once we had children, one of us would be the earning partner and the other would be the nurturing parent. But to be honest, I didn’t try to convince her to keep working either. There was a chauvinist in me that didn’t want his wife to go out to work. I wanted Neetu to finish all her commitments before we got married. All I can say in my defence is that my views have changed since then."

When he called actors 'chamchas' for not turning up for Vinod Khanna's funeral

Rishi Kapoor was furious when none of the younger actors showed up for the funeral of Vinod Khanna in 2017. “Shameful. Not ONE actor of this generation attended Vinod Khanna’s funeral. And that too he has worked with them. Must learn to respect. When I die, I must be prepared. None will shoulder me. Very very angry with today’s so-called stars,” he had written in a tweet. He also went on to tweet about the actors who rather attended Priyanka Chopra's party and not the funeral.

When he bought a Filmfare award!

Rishi had revealed that he once bought a Filmfare award in 1973, for his debut film Bobby. "I feel guilty about the fact. I was all of 20-21 years of age and I was suddenly a huge star after Bobby, and I was a real brat. Someone told me that, 'You know, we can get this award, do you want it?', and I said, 'Yes, of course,' and then he said, 'It will cost you Rs 30,000.' 30,000 rupees back then was big money. So I said why not," he had said in an interview.

When he slammed young actors for wearing sunglasses at night

Rishi appeared on an episode of No Filter Neha in 2017 where he spoke against young actors and their habit of wearing sunglasses at night. “Raat ko bhi airport pe saale chasme pehen ke aate hain...ye besharam actoron ko saale unko sharam nahi aati? (These actors wear sunglasses to airports even at night, these shameless actors, don’t they feel ashamed?),” he said.

When he was unable to understand why everything was named after Gandhis

In 2016, in a series of tweets, he voiced the angst of the common man and wondered why everything was named after the Gandhis. He had written, “Change Gandhi family assets named by Congress.Bandra/Worli Sea Link to Lata Mangeshkar or JRD Tata link road. Baap ka maal samjh rakha tha?”

When he supported son Ranbir Kapoor

In the infamous episode of Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan featured Ranbir's alleged ex-girlfriends, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor, who had taken personal jibes at the actor. Reacting to their statements, Rishi in an interview had said, "It just shows their (Deepika and Sonam) class. I would like to tell them to stop giggling all the time and instead grow up and behave maturely. They are there on the show because they are their father`s daughters and not because of their work! I would advise them to stop talking about their colleagues and running them down."

When he was truthful about his drinking habit

Rishi has never shied away from admitting his drinking habits. Once the actor has tweeted, poking fun at himself, "Some fan just asked- Do you drink occasionally or regularly? I honestly replied- Occasionally. But the occasions come regularly!!!"

When he took a sly dig at Kanika Kapoor and Rana Kapoor

News of Kanika Kapoor being COVID-19 positive almost came at the same time as YES Bank founder Rana Kapoor being arrested for money laundering. On this Rishi being the fun person that he was, had tweeted, "Aaj kal kuch “Kapoor”logon pe time bhaari hai. Darta hoon. Hey Malik raksha karna doosre “Kapoor-on”ki! Koi galat kaam na ho kabhi. Jai Mata Di!"

When he said he was not son Ranbir Kapoor's 'mailbox'

There was a time when fans used to message Rishi a lot on twitter enquiring about his son Ranbir Kapoor and his absence from the social media site. On this RIshi had once shared a meme that read, "Not Ranbir Kapoor's mailbox."

Well, there can never be an actor as honest as Chintu Ji!
