So, as this maverick turns 48, allow us to showcase some of his noteworthy work from his past birthday year:

MOST SOUGHT-OUT COUTURIER

Hands down, Sabyasachi was 2021’s most sought-out bridal couturier for both celebrity and non-celebrity brides as seen on his ever-busy ‘Brides of Sabyasachi’ Instagram account. Putting his heart and soul into his work, the ace designer, curated some stunning looks for bride Katrina Kaif, Patralekha Paul and Mouni Roy for their D-Day. Not just the brides, Sabya also dressed up the Bollywood brigade for a lot of festive occasions as many celebs were spotted musing in his creation.

THE SOLD-OUT COLLECTION CURATOR

Last year, the designer came up with a lot of exciting collections but his much-awaited line with H&M still remains to be the most talked about. This collection was launched in 18 countries and across 48 markets globally including India, the USA, South Africa, Great Britain, Austria, Mexico, Japan, Sweden, Philippines, Vietnam, South Korea, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Belgium. Themed 'Wanderlust', the collection consisted of both menswear and womenswear bursting with rich patterns and luxurious fabrics across modern as well as classic Indian silhouettes that the two brands hope will 'resonate with the global nomad mindset'. This affordable and sellout collection consisted of striped kaftans, khaki shorts, printed co-ords for men and women, floral sarees, Royal Bengal tiger logo printed t-shirt, fanny packs, off shouldered tops, printed pants, amongst many others. Although it raked negative reviews for being a sellout so soon but it was also deemed as a start for something spectacular.

Celebrities like Katrina, Patralekha flaunt the mangalsutra from the designer’s latest intimate fine jewellery collection.

Sabyasachi has chosen to design costumes for close friend Rani Mukherji’s film Bunty Aur Babli 2, 9 years after his brilliance in Kahaani. Conning his own signature designs in the film, the ace designer curated some extravagant and OTT looks for Babli’s character, that of course, got the tongues wagging!
