Watch out copycats, Diet Sabya is eating plagiarist designers for lunch

If the international fashion industry has Diet Prada, the no-mercy Instagram handle that calls out injustices in the fashion industry, our very own fashion industry now has its very own watchdog, Diet Sabya. Pegging itself as ‘Diet Prada’s fierce desi sister,’ they are committed to reporting on ‘people knocking each other off!’…and they sure have grabbed eyeballs.

With close to 6000 followers, Diet Sabya is already followed by many from the fash frat and they have already called out several copycats. In today’s world of tech and connectivity, it is not easy for style stealers to get away with their underhand games and Diet Sabya is helping nail them.

So far, they have called out brands like Nykaa, Lulu, Sky, Koovs etc, whose products are blatantly copied from international originals. Also coming under the scanner are leading stylists who dress their celebrity clients in designs that are outright copies.

Of course, there are also times Diet Sabya gets it wrong… With designer Masaba Gupta, for instance, they had erred. They called out the designer for one of her caps, which sported a similar style to that of designer Kanika Goyal’s. Masaba was quick to point out that the CANT cap by her was made for her by Kanika Goyal! “Thank you. We are all for credit where credit is due,” Diet Sabya responded.

It’s understandable that no designer wants to have their designs placed side by side with the original and tagged in the bargain for copying! Recently, Shoes By Guwalani was shown to have taken inspiration to extreme levels as they ripped off Gucci's fur slippers. The wicked Diet Sabya caption read, “Why shlep to Thailand when you can get it in Agra?”

Malaika Arora was snapped in a Deme by Gabriella outfit that was embarrassingly ripped off from a Monse Maison ensemble. They even nastily asked, “Wonder how Malaika feels while wearing rip-offs out in public.”

DS also pulled out pics of Kriti Sanon and Manushi Chhillar wearing copies of Self Portrait's popular cutwork number.

We can see some of the designers, especially the bigger names, looking worried!
