Chanel under fire for felling trees to create a runway

Karl Lagerfeld, the legendary style beacon and creative director of the the luxury house, Chanel, has come under fire for felling old oaks for Chanel's ready-to-wear collection, Paris Fashion Week.

The German-born-designer who's known for turning his runway into over-the-top sets has recreated a space shuttle launching site, an airport terminal, an ancient Greek temple, to name a few, to showcase his brilliant and out-worldly designs.

We recently saw Karl Lagerfeld being praised for his Fall/Winter 2018 catwalk. A runway which was converted into a fake forest. Yes, the same Grand Palais in Paris which was magically transformed into a forest is now under attack by the France Nature Environment group.

The fashion show which saw Chanel heading to the woods, with dead leaves and tall oaks installed in the center of the runway to reflect the mood of Chanel's 2018 collection, had fashion critics in awe. From renowned magazines to A-list clients, everyone was all praises for Karl's collection and his beautiful runway.

With accusations of century old trees being chopped down to make rows of benches for his guests, including Hollywood star Keira Knightley, British pop singer Lily Allen and former French first lady Carla Bruni Sarkozy, this news comes as a huge setback.

It's not the first time this luxury giant has come under fire. Remember when Karl raised eyebrows for sending his models down the ramp in PVC garments, when plastic pollution was making headlines?
