PeepingMoon Exclusive: Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor to commence Karan Johar and Shashank Khaitan’s next in May 2024

After enthralling audiences with their remarkable on-screen chemistry in last year's Nitesh Tiwari film, Bawaal, Varun Dhawan, and Janhvi Kapoor are set to collaborate once again. The two talented young actors have been signed on to headline Karan Johar’s next production venture, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, to be directed by Shashank Khaitan.

Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that Varun and Janhvi will commence shooting for this film in the first week of May 2024, almost a year before it opens in theatres during the Good Friday weekend on April 25, 2025. The romantic entertainer, starring Varun as Sunny Sanskari and Janhvi as his bride Tulsi Kumari, is scheduled to get off the ground on May 4 in Mumbai and will be shot over a three-month period across various locations in India and overseas.

Varun will kick off shooting for this Dharma Productions project after finishing Atlee and Murad Khetani’s action entertainer, Baby John, which is expected to be wrapped up by mid-April. Janhvi is also anticipated to complete Devara, her pan-India film with RRR star Jr. NTR, by then, and may also begin shooting for Spider with Sidharth Malhotra before joining Varun on the sets of SSKTK. This romantic drama marks Varun’s third collaboration with Shashank Khaitan after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Janhvi's second project with him after her debut vehicle, Dhadak.

On the work front, Varun will next be seen in Atlee’s Baby John, set to release in theatres on May 31, followed by Amazon Prime Video’s Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian installment of the Russo Brothers’ Citadel series, directed by Raj & DK. Upon wrapping up the Karan Johar film with Janhvi, Varun will move on to his father David Dhawan's comedy entertainer, followed by Anees Bazmee’s No Entry 2 early next year. He is also committed to an action film with Raj Mehta, co-starring Tiger Shroff, but shooting timelines for that project have not yet been finalized.

Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor has a plethora of projects in her pipeline, including two Telugu movies with RRR stars Jr. NTR (Devara) and Ram Charan (#RC16, directed by Buchi Babu Sana). She is also slated to star alongside Sidharth Malhotra in Maddock Films’ Spider and with Tiger Shroff in Siddharth Anand’s Rambo (if that film ever happens). Additionally, she is supposed to feature in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's ambitious project, Karna, although her casting is yet to be confirmed. These above-mentioned projects aside, Janhvi has already finished two movies: Junglee Pictures’ action thriller, Ulajh; and Dharma Productions' Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, co-starring Rajkummar Rao.
