Housefull 5 Exclusive: Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar join Akshay Kumar’s Housefull family

Sajid Nadiadwala's Housefull 5 is getting bigger as it adds to the cast two prominent new entrants. has exclusively learned that Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar have joined the cast of the most-awaited fifth installment of the popular comedy franchise, set to bow in theatres on June 6, 2025. 

Anil and Nana are venturing into a new comedy franchise after previously playing the iconic characters of Majnu Bhai and Uday Shetty in Firoz Nadiadwala's Welcome film series. They reunite to play intriguing roles in Housefull 5 alongside franchise regulars Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. Chunky Pandey also returns to play Aakhri Pasta, while the casting for other key roles is still in progress. Bobby Deol and several other actors from the previous parts have also been approached, but they are yet to be confirmed. 

Nana Patekar’s casting marks a noteworthy development in the Housefull’s history. The veteran actor was previously supposed to star in Housefull 4, but he was later asked to opt out of the project after he was accused of sexual harassment by Tanushree Dutta, leading to the beginning of the #MeToo movement in India in 2018. He stepped out of the movie, citing the 'convenience' of the production team, and Rana Daggubati took his place. Housefull 5 completes the cycle for him as he returns to the same film franchise six years later.

Housefull 5 promises to be five times more entertaining than the previous four parts, which have collectively grossed over 490 crores at the Indian box office, establishing itself as one of India's biggest and most successful movie franchises. The new movie is expected to be better and bigger on every scale, captivating audiences with an absolutely mind-blowing story and superb cinematic visuals. Dostana fame Tarun Manshukhani has taken the directorial responsibility this time, and the shooting is scheduled to commence in the middle of this year in the UK.
