Exclusive: Salman Khan-Sanjay Leela Bhansali film will not have Shah Rukh Khan

Speculations are doing rounds for the last few weeks that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be bringing Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan together in his next directorial venture. Media reports claim this would be the remake of Vijay Bhatt’s 1952 classic Baiju Bawra that starred Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari in the lead roles. However, all these reports seem to be mere conjecture.

A source close to Bhansali Productions have clarified that SLB’s next film is a modern day love story and it’s a solo Salman Khan film. “SRK has nothing to do with this film and even if he features, it’ll just be in a cameo. Also, it’s an original script which is very close to Bhansali’s heart. Not a remake as was reported in the media,” the source told PeepingMoon.com.

Rumours were also rife that the SLB-Salman film may be called Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2 as it had all the elements of the 1999 musical love story. However, the source said it’s nothing like their last successful venture. “In fact, this could just be a suggestion Bhansali came up with randomly. It must be just the idea of reviving a successful brand after many years like Aashiqui 2. And even if they call it by that name, it’ll be just to use the brand,” the source further said.

Bhansali has apparently decided on this modern-age love story after brainstorming between three-four projects that he was working on simultaneously. He is currently finalizing the leading lady and other cast members and plans to start shooting of this untitled and awaited film sometime in September in Mumbai.
