From laughter to thrills, Akshay Kumar is ruling every genre in 2026

For every actor, there comes a year that brings together everything they've built over decades. For Akshay Kumar, that year is 2026. In the space of twelve months, Akshay has delivered and lined up a slate that reflects every facet of his career. From television to horror-comedy, action-comedy, dark thrillers and family entertainers, Akshay isn't repeating himself. Instead, he's reminding audiences why he has remained one of Hindi cinema's most versatile stars for over three decades.

The year began with Wheel of Fortune, which marked his return to television as the host of the Indian adaptation of the globally popular game show. Akshay brought his signature wit and warmth to the small screen, connecting with audiences in an altogether new format, proving his appeal is far from limited to the big screen.

Later he joined hands with Priyadarshan again for Bhoot Bangla after many years. The horror-comedy struck a chord with audiences and reaffirmed that Akshay remains one of the industry's most dependable names when it comes to comic entertainers. The reunion itself became an event, reminding viewers of a partnership that has delivered some of Bollywood's most-loved films.

Now, Welcome To The Jungle has brought back another version of the star that audiences have long missed. The film reunites him with Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, places him at the centre of a massive ensemble and allows him to effortlessly switch between action and comedy. For many fans, it feels like a return to the classic Akshay Kumar era, the Khiladi who could headline an action sequence one moment and leave audiences laughing the next. The overwhelmingly family-friendly appeal of the film has only strengthened that sentiment.

The momentum goes on. Later this year comes Haiwaan, another collaboration with Priyadarshan, but this time Akshay takes on a darker, more menacing role opposite Saif Ali Khan. The film promises to give audiences a look at the actor they haven’t seen in years, adding another layer to an already diverse line-up.

His long-awaited reunion with Anees Bazmee is expected to be the end of the year. The actor-director combo created box office history with movies like Welcome and Singh Is Kinng, and are back together for a family entertainer that already has huge expectations riding on its shoulders.

What makes 2026 special isn’t the number of projects, but the sheer variety. Akshay Kumar is hosting television, leading family comedies, headlining multi-starrers, revisiting the action-comedy space that made him a household name and embracing darker, performance-driven roles, all within the same year.

At a time when most stars are carefully sticking to one image, Akshay Kumar continues to surprise by refusing to be defined by one. And if 2026 has proved anything, it's that reinvention has always been his greatest strength.

Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film brings together a formidable ensemble including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Aftab Shivdasani, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, Hemant Pandey, Brijendra Kala, Feroze Khan (Arjun), Late Pankaj Dheer Ji, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, Jeetu Verma, Vrihi Kodvara, Adityaa Singgh and Bhagya Bhanushali.

An Ahmed Khan entertainer, Welcome To The Jungle is presented by A.A. Nadiadwala, Cape of Good Films and Star Studio18 in association with Seeta Films and Rakesh Dang. The film is a Base Industries Group Production, produced by Rakesh Dang and Vedant Vikaas Baali, and produced by Firoz A. Nadiadwallah. The film released in cinemas worldwide on 26th June 2026.
