Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal starrer 'The India Story' has already created buzz before its release. A legal notice has been sent to the producers regarding certain claims made in the film's promotional campaign and trailer, after which the film has made headlines.
The notice objects to the "Slow Poison in Progress" campaign used in the film's promotion. The notice-seeking party claims that the trailer and promotional material present issues related to pesticide use, food adulteration, milk quality, and public health in a manner that could create a negative image of Indian agriculture and related sectors.
The notice also states that some of the statistics and claims shown in the promotional material could create fear among the public and impact farmers, dairy producers, and agricultural businesses. It also demands that such claims be supported by facts and evidence.
However, the film's team maintains that The India Story is not intended to target any farmer, community, or industry. The film attempts to spark discussion on issues related to food safety, adulteration, and public health. The producers believe that cinema can be an effective medium for communication on social issues.
Directed by Chettan DK, the film addresses a topic that is often debated publicly. The legal notice has further increased audience curiosity about the film and sparked widespread discussion within the industry. Written and produced by Sagar B. Shinde, The India Story stars Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on July 24, 2026.
