From films like Gangster and Jannat to Murder 3, Begum Jaan, and now Awarapan 2, Vishesh Bhatt’s work reflects a creative involvement that has evolved with every project. Here’s a look at the various hats he has donned through his career.

Gangster (2006)

A dark romantic drama set in the world of crime, Gangster tells the story of Simran, a bar singer caught between her troubled past and the possibility of a new life. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut in her debut role, and Shiney Ahuja, the film explored themes of love, betrayal, and redemption with a strong emotional core. As the co-producer, Vishesh Bhatt was part of a film that stood out for its raw storytelling, memorable music, and emotionally intense narrative, helping shape one of the most talked-about romantic crime dramas of its time.

Jannat (2008)

As the creative producer and contributor to the story and screenplay, Vishesh Bhatt played an important role in shaping Jannat and its emotional journey. Blending crime, romance, and ambition, the film followed Arjun, a street smart gambler whose rise in the world of match fixing comes at a heavy personal cost. Headlined by Emraan Hashmi alongside Sonal Chauhan,  Jannat balanced love and danger against a high stakes backdrop, eventually becoming one of the most memorable films from that phase for both its narrative and music.

Murder 3 (2013)

A psychological thriller layered with suspense, Murder 3 revolves around Vikram, a wildlife photographer played by Randeep Hooda, who hides disturbing secrets inside his secluded home. Also starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Sara Loren, the film slowly unfolds a dark and unsettling mystery. Marking a major shift in his career, Vishesh Bhatt as the director of the film, brought a more controlled and tension driven style to the storytelling that kept audiences engaged throughout the narrative.

Begum Jaan (2017)

As the producer of Begum Jaan, Vishesh Bhatt backed a story that moved away from conventional commercial spaces and focused on a strong, emotionally charged subject rooted in history and resistance. Led by Vidya Balan in a commanding performance, the film is set during the Partition of India and follows a brothel owner and her women as they refuse to leave their home while borders are being drawn. Alongside Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, and Chunky Pandey as the antagonist, the film stood out for its powerful performances and layered storytelling centred on identity, survival, and female strength.

Awarapan 2 (2026)

Vishesh Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi have given audiences some truly iconic classics over the years, and now the duo is all set to reunite for Awarapan 2, the sequel to a film that attained cult status through the unwavering love of fans.
