Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company’s Raja Shivaji, helmed by Riteish Deshmukh, has made a splash on the big screens, registering a record-breaking opening in Marathi cinema. Etching a landmark moment in Marathi cinema, the historical epic backed by Jio Studios, made an excellent double-digit collection of Rs.12.40 crore on day 1, earning 3x more than earlier record-holders, including Sairat and Timepass 2, which had scored around Rs.3.60 crore nett each. Raja Shivaji has also soared past Ved, which had started on a strong note on day 1 by collecting Rs.2.25 crore.
