Perin Malde Recalls Missed Photo With Shah Rukh Khan On Billu Set, Calls It An Unforgettable Memory: 'He Gave Me A Hug'

Perin Malde may still be new to the entertainment business, but his journey shows that he is determined and works hard. The actor has been building his path step by step, from small beginnings to big dreams. Shah Rukh Khan starrer Billu was the first time he worked in movies as a child actor. Looking back, Perin opens up about what that experience meant to him.

Talking about those early days, Perin shared that just being part of the film was a big moment, even if his role was brief. “Working on Billu was a great experience. Even now, a lot of my friends remember me from that film. Everybody was just so happy for me, being there on the big screen for even two seconds,” he said.

Interestingly, Perin didn’t originally land the part he auditioned for. He revealed that he had tried for a bigger role, but things didn’t go as planned. “Initially, I had auditioned for Irrfan Sir's son’s character, but I think I did not fit in well for that. The casting team was quite sweet. Because I went through two-three rounds of auditions, they were like, we'll put you somewhere in the film.”

As a child, Perin admits he didn’t fully understand the scale of what he was experiencing. However, one particular memory from the shoot has stayed with him over the years. “I still remember the entire shoot day, we were shooting in the south of Mumbai, and even the atmosphere of that set, made it quite evident that Mr Shah Rukh Khan was going to be there. As a kid, I did not understand the magnitude of being in the same space as him but it’s great to now look back since he’s been a major reason for me to become an actor in the first place.”

Like many fans, he also hoped to get a picture with the superstar - a moment that almost happened but didn’t quite go his way. “I just sneaked up next to him after we wrapped and asked if I could have a picture with him. Since he was in a rush, Very sweetly, he gave me a hug while walking towards his car and said, ‘Sorry, baby, next time,’ and he just took off.”

That brief interaction, though small, left a lasting impact. Today, as Perin continues to chase his dreams, he carries that moment with him - not as a missed chance, but as motivation. “So in my head it plays like a movie scene - One day when I make it big, I’ll be winning my ‘Most Promising Debut Award’ for a solo lead film, it'll be him presenting that award to me and I’ll remind him of this story, tell him that he had promised me a picture and now would be a great time to finally get it clicked.”

It’s a simple memory, but one that clearly shaped a young actor’s ambition - turning a short encounter into a long-term goal.
