In Bollywood, the Eid box office window has always been considered a special occasion. Typically, films starring major superstars are released during this period, drawing massive crowds to theaters. However, the picture looks slightly different this year. With neither a Shah Rukh Khan nor a Salman Khan film releasing around Eid this time, the void created at the box office appears to be benefiting ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ the most.
Even before its release, the film has generated tremendous excitement among audiences. According to trade reports, the film has sold over 12.6 lakh tickets across more than 26,000 shows in India, generating over 40 crore in advance sales, with opening-day pre-sales alone nearing 29 crore. The momentum extends globally as well, with more than 15 lakh tickets reportedly sold worldwide, translating to over 130 crore in advance bookings. Additionally, the film’s paid preview shows have grossed over 18 crore from around 3.4 lakh tickets across 8,000+ shows, signaling an exceptionally strong opening weekend ahead of the festive Eid corridor.
The film has also become a major talking point within the industry itself. Given the grand scale of this project and the immense buzz surrounding it, several other films have rescheduled their release dates. Consequently, the March box office landscape currently appears to belong entirely to ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
Presented by Jio Studios and produced under the banner of B62 Studios, Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is a high-octane spy-action thriller. The film has been written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, while Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar serve as its producers. This film will be released in cinemas worldwide tomorrow on the occasion of Gudi Padwa and Ugadi, and just before Eid in a total of five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
