The film's director Anil Sharma recently gave an important update about this film in a conversation with News 18. He said that the film's script is ready and work on the project has started. Although this will not be his next release, he clarified that 'Apne 2' will definitely be made.

Anil Sharma also revealed that it was not difficult to convince Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol for this film. According to the director, all three wanted to do a film together and wanted him to direct it. Sharma said, "When I told the story of ‘Apne’, Dharmendra ji had tears in his eyes. Bobby hugged me after listening to the script. As soon as Sunny came to know that he will be sharing the screen with his father and brother, he immediately agreed."

The director further said that his relationship with the Deol family is very close not only professionally but also personally. There is mutual love, trust and affinity between them. The release date of ‘Apne 2’ has not been announced yet. It is expected that it will be announced soon.
