‘Udaipur Files’ Producer meets I & B Minister amid controversy, Hopes for 8 August release

Amid the ongoing controversy over the film 'Udaipur Files', its producer Amit Jani recently met Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. This meeting took place on Monday, August 4, in which the release of the film was discussed. Talking to news agency ANI, Amit Jani said that this is the second time he was called to the ministry on the issue related to the release of the film.

Amit Jani said, "When Mohammad Javed and Maulana Arshad Madni filed a petition against the film and put forth their side, even then we had met the ministry and now we have met once again. We hope that the government will take a positive decision and allow the release of the film." Let us tell you that 'Udaipur Files' is based on the murder of tailor Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur, Rajasthan, which is already surrounded by controversies. The producer of the film also clarified that his team is ready to work as per the instructions of the government.

He said, "We have made some cuts earlier also based on the suggestions. We have full faith in the government. The objection is not coming from our side, but from the other side." When asked if the release of the film will be delayed, he said that 'Udaipur Files' is planned to release in theaters on 8 August 2025. He said, "If the government gives us permission, the film will be released on the scheduled date."

Amit Jani also said that his meeting with the minister was a 'closed-door' meeting and the discussion took place under Section 6 of the Cinema Act 1952. Under this section, the government has the right to cancel the certification and ban the exhibition. However, now the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has withdrawn the recommendation of 6 cuts suggested in the film and said that it will hear all the parties again and give a revised order.
