Happy Birthday, Dhanush

If Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan can treat fans to the teaser of his next film on his 42nd birthday today, can Dhanush be far behind? No! The Tamil screen’s popular actor, director and producer releases the first single from his upcoming directorial ‘Idli Kadai’ on his birthday today. Dhanush also turns 42. The song is called ‘Enna Sugam’ and Dhanush, who is wildly popular for the hugely successful song ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ that he wrote and sang for his 2012 film ‘3’, has lent his voice to today’s release alongside singer Shweta Mohan.

Sadly, Dhanush and wife and filmmaker Aishwaryaa (the legendary Rajnikanth’s daughter) ended 18 years of marriage by announcing their separation in 2022. A Chennai court granted them divorce last year. He’s one of Tamil cinema’s highest paid actors, has made over 50 films, won several accolades, among them four National Awards. But after all this, Dhanush still remains a fan of his ex-father-in-law Rajnikanth. Despite having his own identity almost wiped out just for being the great Thalaiva’s son-in-law. “The first question asked to me in an interview was always ‘What’s it like to be his Rajnikanth’s son-in-law?’” Dhanush once told PeepingMoon.com.

And when they were happy together, was Aishwaryaa proud of Dhanush’s success or did she compare him to her God-like father? Dhanush had said, “Aishwarya is a Kollywood director. She is proud of me, naturally. Especially because I have a large fan following too. But my wife has seen it all. She’s the Princess of the state. And she’s seen the King arriving so many times. It’s difficult for me to live up to that. I’ve got to do much more to impress her!” Meanwhile, fans of the Tamilian actor and filmmaker are wondering when he will follow up the success of his 2022 Hollywood debut in ‘The Gray Man’ opposite Ryan Gosling. But Dhanush is not telling. Peeping Moon wishes Dhanush a Happy Birthday!
