‘Udaipur Files’ controversy: Court-appointed panel suggests 6 major changes, No release without edits

A major update has come out in the ongoing controversy over the film ‘Udaipur Files’. A central committee formed on the instructions of the Delhi High Court has given many important suggestions regarding the content of the film. The committee has made it clear that the film cannot be allowed to release without implementing these changes.

According to sources, the committee has suggested a total of six major changes in the film. First of all, an objection has been raised regarding the current disclaimer of the film and it has been directed to change it. Also, credit frames thanking certain persons in the film have also been asked to be removed.

The committee has also objected to an AI generated scene, which allegedly shows the style of punishment of countries like Saudi Arabia. The committee believes that such scenes can hurt the sentiments of the audience and spread the wrong message. Therefore, it has been suggested to remove this scene or make necessary amendments.

Apart from this, a big decision has also been taken regarding a character of the film 'Nutan Sharma'. The committee has clarified that the name of this character should be changed and all the dialogues related to it should be removed, especially those dialogues in which religious texts are mentioned. The committee has warned that this dialogue can incite religious sentiments and create social tension.

It has also been recommended to remove some dialogues related to the Baloch community in the film. The committee argues that these dialogues can breach sensitivity internationally and harm India's diplomatic image. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has taken these recommendations seriously and has given clear instructions to the producers that there can be no public or commercial exhibition of the film without implementing all the changes.

It is worth noting that this film is based on the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur in June 2022. After the teaser of the film came out, it was accused of spreading hatred against a particular community and the controversy started. It was to be released on July 10, but the Delhi High Court banned its release on the same day and formed a committee.

Vijay Raj is in the lead role in the film, who is playing the character of Kanhaiyalal. Rajneesh Duggal will be seen in the role of an Intelligence Bureau officer Ishwar Singh, while Preeti Jhangiani is playing the role of his wife and journalist. Apart from this, actors like Puneet Vashisht, Mushtaq Khan and Jayshree Mahato are also in important roles. The film is directed by Bharat S. Srinate and Jayant Sinha, while the producer is Amit Jani.
