BBC releases Sidhu Moosewala documentary despite father's legal plea, What’s the controversy all about?

Famous singer of Punjabi music industry Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known to the world as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead in broad daylight on 29 May 2022. He was publicly targeted by unknown assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district.

Today, June 11 is the birth anniversary of Sidhu Moose Wala. On this occasion, while his three new songs '0008', 'Neil' and 'Take Notes' were released on his official YouTube channel, on the other hand a controversy has arisen. BBC World Service has released a two-part documentary on Moose Wala without the permission of the family.

Let us tell you that Moose Wala's father Balkaur Singh had filed a petition in the Mansa Court of Punjab to stop the screening of this documentary, the hearing of which was scheduled on June 12. But even before the court order, the BBC released this documentary on YouTube. The first part of this documentary is titled 'The Killing Call', which shows Moose Wala's childhood to his stardom and all the controversies related to him. The second part presents in detail the events before and after his murder.

The documentary also includes interviews of some of Moose Wala's old friends, journalists and senior officials of Punjab and Delhi Police. It also shows an audio interview of gangster Goldie Brar, who is considered the main accused in the conspiracy to murder Moose Wala. Moose Wala's father objected to the documentary and wrote a letter to the Director General of Police of Maharashtra and demanded to stop its screening in Mumbai. He says that this documentary has been made without his permission and it shows many misleading and objectionable things about the murder of his son.
