Famous Bangladeshi actress Nusrat Faria, who played Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the film 'Mujib: The Making of a Nation', was arrested at Dhaka airport when she was leaving for Thailand. The arrest took place on Monday and the reason behind this is said to be her alleged involvement in the violent incidents during the July 2024 movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nasreen Akhtar has ordered her to be sent to judicial custody. Given the seriousness of the matter, Bangladesh Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has confirmed that an investigation is underway against Nusrat Faria and the government is committed to carry forward the justice process in a fair manner. It is being said that during a demonstration in July 2024, a man named Inamul Haque was shot. He was hospitalized for several days and after recovering, he filed a case on 3 May 2025. A total of 283 people have been accused in this case, including the names of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 17 artists. Nusrat Faria's name is also listed in the list of accused.
