‘Operation Sindoor’ director issues apology, Says after backlash: ‘This is not just a movie, It’s the sentiment of the nation’

There has been a lot of controversy on social media regarding the recently announced Bollywood film 'Operation Sindoor'. As soon as the poster of this film came out on May 9, people started questioning its timing and intention. The film is said to be inspired by the recent missile attacks by the Indian Army on terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK. The film is directed by Uttam Maheshwari and is being produced under the banner of Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer.

As soon as the poster was released, many users questioned the intention of the filmmakers, calling it "commercialization of a sensitive issue". Some people also questioned the authenticity of the poster, calling it AI-generated. At the same time, there was also a large section who said that when the country is going through a serious situation, it is not right to announce a film on a military operation.

Seeing the controversy growing, director Uttam Maheshwari shared a long post on social media and publicly apologized. He wrote, "I apologize for announcing a film inspired by the Indian Army's 'Operation Sindoor'. My intention was not to hurt anyone's feelings. As a filmmaker, I felt that the courage, sacrifice and leadership of our army should be shown on the big screen. This film is not for money or fame, but is a symbol of respect and love for the country's army."

He further wrote, "I understand that many people have been hurt by the announcement of the film at this time, so I apologize. This is not just a film, but the sentiment of the entire country. I express my gratitude to my army and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who made us feel proud." While on one hand some people are calling it insensitive in terms of time, many are considering it a bold effort dedicated to the Indian Army. Now it remains to be seen whether this film will reach the hearts of the audience or will remain entangled in controversies.
