IPL 2024: Navjot Singh Sidhu recalls his first meeting with Shah Rukh Khan, says 'I knew that this man would go a long way'

Shah Rukh Khan was in Kolkata to attend the first match of his team, Kolkata Knight Riders. On the second day of the popular Indian Premiere League (IPL), the cricket team defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens yesterday. Pictures and videos of the superstar cheering for KKR went viral on the internet. While fans were gushing over his humbleness, it was former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu's commentary that won attention. During the live broadcast, he recalled his first meeting with Shah Rukh.

Sidhu said he knew after the first meeting that Shah Rukh will go a long way and become successful in his life. He shared, "Shah Rukh Khan is quite an honorary figure. I have heard from Abhishek Bachchan that SRK is the most secure person ever in the industry. He often encourages other actors. I once met him at Model School ground. At that time, he was doing Circus and there was a show called Fauji. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said he wanted to go to Bollywood.

He further added, "When I enquired how he planned to do so without having a relative, and with the competition there, how did he plan to be successful? That is when he said, ‘I don’t compete with anyone but myself.’ I have never forgotten this incident. That day I knew that this man would go a long way. He is as humble as he is successful."

Workwise, Shah Rukh returned to the big screen after a gap of 5 years in 2023 with three films. He started 2023 with Pathaan, followed by Jawan and Dunki.
