Campus Beats creator Palki Malhotra shares her take on situationships

Creator of the recent dance fiction OTT show Campus Beats on Amazon Mini TV, Palki Malhotra emphasizes on the importance of highlighting 'Situationships' via the lead characters Netra and Ishaan, aka Shantanu Maheshwari and Shruti Sinha.

Palki who has been instrumental for creating OG youth shows like Dil Mill Gayye and Dil Dostii Dance, has created another successful youth based drama with Campus Beats. Besides highlighting friendships, romance, a murder mystery and a boy love story, the show strongly emphasizes on the new age way of 'Situationships' between youngsters in this day and age.

Palki shares," Earlier, people were a little more rigid about either this or that. They were either okay with the black zone or the white zone; they did not explore the greys. But today we are living in multi-shaded grey, which basically means people find themselves conflicted by emotions. I think the label 'situationships' stemmed because there was uncertainty about certain things that you felt and did not know. Some genius thought about this and labeled it a situationship. It was extremely important for us to talk about it because I see a lot of people in it, and it's okay to be in a situation like this because it's a difficult world. It's a world where we first need to know ourselves better before committing ourselves. Sometimes commitment is great, and for some people, it is not. So it was very important for us to normalise this".

"One needs to understand why, because there is always a reason why that person is not committed to a relationship. It is good that people are not committing to something they cannot take care of in the future. They are taking slow baby steps, where the other person's feelings and life are in your hands. So it is very important to talk about this because this is a reality, and we must be open about it without judging other people. So it was very important for us to normalise situationships through Campus Beats", concludes Palki.
