Everybody wants to see toned and fair skin on screen: RRKPK fame Anjali Anand on beauty stereotypes in films

Anjali Anand is a well-known actress who started her acting journey from television and is best known for her show Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala. The actress was recently seen in Karan Johar’s directed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani where she played the role of Ranveer Singh’s sister. RRKPK turned to be the Bollywood debut for the actress.

In one of the latest interviews, Anjali went on to speak about some toxic beauty standards that exist in the industry. Having experience in both television and films she also spoke about her experience of working in film for the first time. She further added that although she received a lot of love for her character she wants to experiment with her roles and not to get stereotyped.

The actress said,“It’s not just the showbiz industry, even the audiences will not be very happy with a heroine if she looks like me. It is a very hypocritical world that we live in. Everybody wants to see a toned body and fair skin on screen. Sabse zyada seetiyaan item number par hi bajti hain. That is the world we live in and that is the truth nobody wants to accept. Whatever comes next for me, I want to be very careful in what I’m choosing so that I’m not stereotyped. I hope I get to play something more challenging and unbelievably different, and not what filmmakers and audiences already expect from me. I want to play different parts, whatever it takes.”
