We are global, we are for everyone: Sunny Deol speaks on anti-Pakistani claims post the release of Gadar 2

Gadar 2 released on August 11 and has been giving an outstanding performance at the box office, breaking the records one after another. Directed by Anil Sharma, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead, the film follows a story of Tara Singh(Sunny) who returns to Pakistan to bring back his son amidst the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

Contrary to the unbeatable success of the film, the issues upon the film being anti-Muslim and anti- Pakistani have been taking rounds.

In a recent interview, the actor addressed these issues and said that he believes people on both sides are same. He also added that cinema is not trying to affect either side, Sunny said, "I think people in both countries are like let it all go, we are normal humans on both sides. But throughout the film, whenever I have portrayed any character, I have never run anyone down. I don’t believe in that. Even Tara Singh is not that kind of person, not that kind of character. And I believe in such cinema." He further added," But we need to look at cinema, it’s not trying to affect this side or that side. That’s not what we are. We are global, we are for everyone. It’s only when it’s read and spoken by a certain sectors of people, then that thoughts come in time. Majority don’t do that, it’s a handful of people. That’s when the wave comes."

Earlier there was a controversy regarding one of his dialogues in the film, "Adhi Pakistan khali kar dunga." Post which, there have been many comments regarding the same especially from Pakistan.
Not only Gadar 2 but even previous films of Sunny like Gadar and Border haven’t been taken positively by Pakistani people.

The film is the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar that starred Sunny and Ameesha in the lead.
