PeepingMoon Exclusive: My character in Guns and Guns & Gulaabs is inspired from my teacher - T.J Bhanu

T.J Bhanu is well known for her roles in projects The Forgotten Army – Azaadi ke liye (2020), Afwaah (2023), and Not Out (2022). In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, the actress shared about her recent project Guns & Gulaabs where she is playing the role of Chandralekha, an English educator, in a fictional town, who has an array of admirers, like Tipu (Rajkummar Rao) and how their story unflods together in series of dramatic events.

Talking about the show, she shared that it’s an entertaining story with a lot of nostalgia. "I think I like the idea of heart light show and nostalgia. Also the simpler times. I really like the whole idea of a 'date', where you don’t have phones, so precisely all you have is an ice cream and another person, so you eat and you talk and it’s good times. So, all that is definitely there with entertainment; with the story of these people and their world, how it is, and the whole Gulaabganj as a fictional town," shared the actress.

T.J further added that she picked a lot of traits from one of her teachers for the role of Chandralekha. "I had a teacher called Lader Ma’am and I think I picked a lot of traits from her to play Chandralekha..Yes!"

Sharing the takeaways from the project, T.J said that it did help her a lot to evolve as an individual and it was also the first time for her to work on such a big set.
"I learnt how to work on really big set of 220 people because I think the other sets were like little smaller and things like that, so and little people management and work under the big names….Like how it works, that’s what I learnt," stated the actress, before signing off.

Directed by Raj and DK, the series released on August 18,2023 on Netflix and has been receiving warm reception from the audiences. The show also stars Dulquer Salmaan, Gulshan Devaiah and others.
