Diljit Dosanjh's controversial film 'Punjab 95' out of Toronto International Film Festival!

The makers of Punjab 95 starring Diljit Dosanjh in the lead made an announcement earlier this year about the film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but following the latest reports, the film has been removed from the lineup. One of the sources revealed that the film won’t be premiering at the festival and has been pulled out. The reason has been termed as ‘political forces at play’.

According to the producer of the film, the story is ‘compelling’ and is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. But, TIFF had described the film as Jaswant’s story of ‘uncovering murderous corruption during Punjab’s period of insurgency’ in some of their social media posts.

Directed by Honey Trehan, the film follows the journey of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who fights against allegedly fake encounters of Sikh youths by Punjab Police during militancy. The film also stars Arjun Rampal and Kohrra fame Suvinder Vicky in the lead.
