Varun Dhawan announces Bhediya 2, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2 to release in theatres on August 31, 2024

Jio Studio disclosed its upcoming slate of over 100 new films and web series titles that will come out of India in the coming months. At a grand event in Mumbai yesterday, the first looks of several anticipated films and shows were unveiled. Taking his horror-comedy universe ahead, Dinesh Vijan and his banner Maddock Films announced the sequel of Varun Dhawan's Bhediya along with the release date of Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2

The sequel of the superhit film Stree, starring Shraddha, Rajkummar, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, will be releasing in theatres on August 31, 2024. The horror-comedy is expected to go on floors this summer. Amar Kaushik returns as the director for Stree 2. Based on the popular folk legend, Nale Ba (Come Tomorrow) of Karnataka, Stree was critically and commercially successful when it released in 2018. 

After the success of Bhediya, Varun will take his werewolf avatar once again for the sequel. At the event, the actor confirmed that Bhediya 2 is slated to release in 2025. While he didn't reveal details, it is unclear whether Kriti Sanon will return. The prequel was directed by Amar who is taking the franchise forward. Bhediya released in 2022.
