The trailer of Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s highly-anticipated film Selfiee was released today at a launch event in Mumbai. The film also stars Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty who was also part of the event. During the media briefing, Akshay spoke on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instruction to party members to not comment unnecessarily on films amid the ongoing protests against Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
Replying to a question posed by PeepingMoon, Akshay was asked whether the film industry has started breathing more freely now that PM Modi has asked party members to refrain from commenting unnecessarily on films. Akshay replied and said, “Positivity is always welcome and if our Prime Minister is saying something like this, and he the PM is India’s greatest influencer; if things change then it will be great for the industry. And why not? Things should change coz we go through so much, hum filmein banate hain, filmein hum censor board tak le jate hain, wahan pass karwate hain and phir koi kuch bol deta hai and phir gadbad ho jati hai. But now that he has said it I hope things will change and work out for us.”
PM Modi had addressed the party workers on the final day of BJP's National Executive Meeting in Delhi recently . Reportedly, PM Modi told that everyone in BJP works hard on the party's development agenda and when some people pass comments on films, the entire narrative goes for a change.
Selfiee is directed by Raj Mehta produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Akshay’s Cape of Good Films. It is bankrolled by Hiroo Johar, Prithviraj Sukumaran and late Aruna Bhatia among others. Selfiee is all set to release in theatres on February 24, 2023.
