Aamir Khan to take a break from acting, says 'want to be with my family'

Aamir Khan was all set to headline RS Prasanna's Hindi remake of the Spanish film titled Campeones (Champions). However, in the latest development, the superstar has taken a step back. At an event, Aamir confirmed that he won't be acting in Champions but will produce it under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions. He also said that he will be taking a break from acting to be with his family.

At the event, Aamir told, "When I am doing a film as an actor, I get so lost in that that nothing else happens in my life. I was supposed to do a film called Champions. It's a wonderful script, a beautiful story, and it's a very heartwarming and lovely film. But I feel that I want to take a break, be with my family, with my mom, my kids."

He further said, "I feel I have been working for 35 years and I have single-mindedly been focused on my work. I feel that it's not fair to people who are close to me. This is the time I feel I have to take some time off to be with them, and actually experience life in a different way. I am looking forward to the next year, a year-and-a-half in which I am not working as an actor." Talking about Champions, Aamir shared, "I will be producing Champions because I really believe in the film."

In October, Aamir's mother, Zeenat Hussein, suffered a heart attack when she was with the family at their Panchgani farmhouse for Diwali. She was rushed to Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital where she received medical attention.

On his birthday this year, Aamir reacted to rumours of doing Campeones' Hindi remake. Dropping a major hint, the superstar said, "I haven't announced it yet, how do you know about it? The planning is going on, I will tell you about it very soon."

Aamir will be seen in a special role in Revathy's Salaam Venky starring Kajol, Vishal Jethwa, Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, Ahana Kumra, and Prakash Raj.
