The year has been unkind to Mahesh Babu. Two months after losing his mother, Indira Devi, he lost his father Krishna this morning. The superstar, who was officially named Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, passed away at a hospital in Hyderabad at the age of 80.
Mr. Krishna was admitted to Hyderabad's Continental Hospital during the early hours of Monday after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest. He was revived after being given CPR for 20 minutes. The superstar was under doctors' observation and was put on a ventilator as his condition was critical. Reportedly, Mr. Krishna passed away at 4 am today.
Mr. Krishna, known to be a superstar of his era, acted in around 350 films in his illustrious career. Revered as Telugu cinema’s first superstar, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2009 for his contribution to Indian cinema.
The superstar's first wife and Mahesh Babu's mother Indira Devi passed away on September 28 due to a prolonged illness. Mr. Krishna's elder son Ramesh Babu breathed his last on January 8 this year. He was said to be battling liver-related ailments for a long time.
