Akshay Kumar confirms not doing Hera Pheri 3, says 'not happy with the way screenplay & story shaped up'

The third part of the Hera Pheri franchise has been the talk of the town for quite some years. Fans of the comic franchise were delighted when it was confirmed that Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty were roped in once again to headline Hera Pheri 3. However, months into the development, situations changed. PeepingMoon.com exclusively informed its readers on November 11 that Akshay is no longer a part of the cult film series. 

Now, at an event, Akshay confirmed not doing Hera Pheri 3 which has been in talks for the longest time. The superstar said, Hera Pheri has been a part of me. Like a lot of people, I have good memories of it. Mujhe bhi dukh hota hai ki itne saalon tak Hera Pheri 3 bani nahi."

He further revealed the reason behind not signing Hera Pheri 3. Akshay told, "The film was offered to me, I was told about it but I was not satisfied with the screenplay and script. I have to see what people want to watch and that's why I backed off. I had to take a step back. Hera Pheri is a huge part of my life and journey. Mujhe dukh ho raha hai ki main nahi kar pa raha. I am not happy with the way things have shaped up."

Paresh Rawal, who immortalised the character of Baburao through the franchise, confirmed on Twitter that Kartik Aaryan has joined the star cast of Hera Pheri 3. Reacting to a fan's query, the veteran actor tweeted, "Yes it’s true."

Not just Hera Pheri 3, Akshay turned down offers to star in the sequels of his popular films Welcome and Awara Pagal Deewana. Workwise, the superstar was last seen in Ram Setu. He will be seen in films like SelfieeGorkhaOMG 2Soorarai Pottru's remake, Capsule Gill, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat.
