Watch: Massive fire breaks out at Mumbai’s Fashion Street, 10 shops gutted before firefighters douse the blaze

A massive fire broke out today in a few shops at the Fashion Street in South Mumbai’s Churchgate area around 1 pm. At least 10 roadside shops were gutted in the fire but no casualties or injuries were reported. Firefighters soon rushed to the spot as soon as news of the fire was received and managed to douse it.

A BMC official was reported saying, “After the fire brigade was alerted about the incident, six fire engines were rushed to the spot.” He also informed that the blaze was extinguished in 15 minutes. However, Fashion Street has been closed temporarily for traffic till the situation is brought under control, Mumbai Traffic Police said in a tweet.

Videos of the fire went viral on social media which showed thick black smoke coming out of the area that engulfed several shops. Fashion Street is a cluster of road-side clothing shops on MG road near Azad Maidan in South Mumbai that caters a wide variety of high-street fashion.
