Ekta Kapoor shuts down question on similarities between Taapsee Pannu & Kangana Ranaut, says 'not our job to play them against each other'

The animosity between Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut is known to all. From targetting her films to calling taking personal digs, Kangana has been vocal about her sentiments toward Taapsee. Once, the Panga star called the Badla actress a 'sasti copy' of herself. At the trailer launch of Dobaaraa, producer Ektaa R Kapoor reacted to that remark.

For the unversed, Ektaa has worked with Kangana as well as Taapsee. The latter is headlining Dobaaraa. Reacting to Kangana's 'sasti copy' comment and replying to whether there are similarities between the actresses, Ektaa said, "There is only one similarity. Both are amazing trailblazer women. To play them against is not our job, we are women, we adjust each other's crown and not remove it."

The sasti copy remark was first made by Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel in 2019 after Taapsee praised the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya. She tweeted, "Kuch log Kangana ko copy kar ke he apni dukaan chalate hain, magar pls note, they never acknowledge her not even a mention of her name in praising the trailer, last I heard Taapsee ji said Kangana needs a double filter and Tapsee ji you need to stop being a sasti copy."

Later, Kangana went on to call Taapsee a sasti actress in a tweet. She wrote, "You will always remain sasti because you are sab rapists ka feminist... your ring master (Anurag) Kashyap was raided in 2013 as well for tax chori... government official’s report is out if you aren’t guilty go to court against them come clean on this ... come on sasti."

Dobaaraa also stars Pavail Gulati, Rahul Bhatt, Saswata Chatterjee, Vidusshi Mehra, Sukant Goel, Nassar, Nidhi Singh and Madhurima Roy. The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Shobha Kapoor & Ektaa R Kapoor's Cult Movies, a new wing under Balaji Telefilms and Sunir Kheterpal & Gaurav Bose (Athena). It will release in theatres on August 19.
