Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani & Neetu Kapoor's Jug Jugg Jeeyo opened with a strong start on Friday and picked up over the weekend. The Raj Mehta directorial has earned a total of Rs. 36.93 crores in its first weekend. With a strong positive word of mouth, the family entertainer of the season, which also stars Maniesh Paul, and Prajakta Koli, is all set to witness a big jump the week.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed the first weekend collection on Twitter and wrote, "#JugJuggJeeyo fares very well in Weekend 1... Gains on Day 2 and 3 positive sign... Multiplexes fantastic, yield big revenue, while mass circuits bloom on Day 3... Needs to maintain a strong grip on Day 4... Fri 9.28 cr, Sat 12.55 cr, Sun 15.10 cr. Total: 36.93 cr. #India biz."
Jug Jugg Jeeyo revolves around a young married couple, Kukoo Saini & Naina Sharma (Varun Dhawan & Kiara Advani), who plan to separate from each other. However, during their visit to India for Kukoo's sister Ginni's (Prajakta Koli) wedding, he learns that his father Bheem Saini (Anil Kapoor) has an extramarital affair with his math teacher Meera (Tisca Chopra) and wants a divorce from his mother Geeta (Neetu Kapoor) too.
Directed by Raj Mehta, Jug Jugg Jeeyo released in theatres on June 24.
