Hours before his death, Sidhu Moosewala's Vancouver concert ticket sale was delayed due to 'security issues'

The news of Sidhu Moosewala, born as Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, shook the entire nation. The renowned Punjabi singer, rapper and politician was gunned down in broad daylight on Sunday in Punjab's Mansa district. Just a few hours before the attack, the ticket sales for his performance on July 23 at the Pacific Coliseum in Canada were delayed owing to security issues.

According to an international publication's report, the sale of tickets for Sidhu's concert was delayed following a discussion with police about the security at the indoor arena of the venue. Reportedly, the tickets were not scheduled to go on sale till June 4. The tickets were priced in the range of Rs 5,800- Rs 15,500 ($75-$200).

Pacific National Exhibition spokesperson, Laura Ballance, said in a statement, "We wanted to do a deeper dive into security to ascertain the full scale of public safety risks in consultation with police." Laura further added, "As part of our security assessment for any large event, police look at our security plans — they may then tell us they want two or six officers on-site working with our in-house security team for the event. The PNE includes that cost in its contract with the show’s promoter."

Sidhu, 28, was shot dead a day after the Punjab police withdrew security. He was reportedly not in his usual bulletproof car. Reportedly, 30 bullets were fired at him and this incident left a few people critically injured too.
